The Privacy Study is a research project that aims to characterize user behavior on online social network sites. More specifically, user behavior towards privacy. More information about its authorship can be found directly on the application profile page hosted by Facebook:
We receive and store privacy settings for the content you share with your social network online. We also collect information about and shared by your network, like how many albums they share with you.
We do not collect or store by any means your email address.
The information collected will never be used for commercial purposes, rest assured. Social research is our main and only purpose. WeÕve no interest in the individual standpoint but the groupÕs. As so, weÕre more interested in deriving statistics that reveal group behavior and not personal information of any kind.
We want to understand how people across the globe use Social Network sites, what are the differences and why they exist.
WeÕve no interest in identifying specific individuals nor groups.
Your information is not meant to be shared. No personally identifiable information (PII) of any kind nor any other data will be disclosed.
The access to the information collected is limited to our research group.
We want you to feel confident about using our application, and we are committed to protecting the information we collect.
While no Web site can guarantee full security, we have implemented appropriate administrative, technical, and physical security procedures to help protect the personal information you provide to us.
